The Angry Guest is a direct sequel to Duel of Fists which had two long-separated brothers, Ti Lung and David Chiang, reuniting in Bangkok and running afoul of the local mob after Ti Lung, a boxer, beats the local favorite in the ring. In this film, the action shifts from Bangkok to Hong Kong to Japan and then back to HK as the brothers contend with a Japanese mob led by crime boss Yamaguchi, who is played by the film's director, Chang Cheh, in a rare screen appearance.

A debt-ridden young man Jeetu (Shahid Kapoor) decides to commit suicide to allow his father to collect insurance money. Unfortunately, he is rescued by two fishermen, Gundya (Paresh Rawal) and Bandya (Rajpal Yadav). Gundya owes money to a Gujarati businessman, Prabhat Singh Chauhan (Om Puri) and he hatches a scheme to exchange Jeetu for the money he owes. Jeetu does not want to reveal his impoverished state, and therefore pretends to be mute and deaf. A hilarious sequence of events follows...

Umesh is accused of killing a newspaper editor. His wife and mother hire a reputed lawyer named Sangram Singh Sahni, who agrees to be the defense lawyer without charging them any fees. He approached Advocate Sahni, who attempts to do his best to get a new trial, in vain, though and Umesh is set to die within one week. Now Jai must come up with the person who really killed the Newspaper Editor, and the only clue he has is a photograph of the killer's shoes...
